To date, the membrane development for distillation (MD) application is growing in line with increasing volume of various types wastewaters discharged into environment. MD a liquid-vapor separation process and hydrophobic used to retain liquid. Theoretically, can achieve 100% rejection non-volatile components that dissolved feed liquids. As result, has received significant attention water recovery from saline as well wastewaters. Nevertheless, addition scaling problem due salts, hydrophobicity property becomes concern when dealing challenging which contain low surface tension such oils, grease, alcohols, organics surfactants. The pore wetting salts deposition fouling subsequently reduces flux even fails process. This article briefly discusses transformation superhydrophobic omniphobic purposely enhance eliminate wetting.
